What is a UAE Residency Visa?
A UAE residency visa allows you to live and work legally in the UAE for a specified period. There are various types of residency visas available, each with its own set of eligibility criteria and application procedures.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the two most popular emirates for Obtaining a UAE residency visa. The country’s other emirates of Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Ajman are also popular for those who wishes to establish residency outside of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Types of UAE Residency Visas:
- Employment Visa: Issued to individuals with valid job offers from UAE employers or those who business owners who have established their own company.
- Investor Visa: Issued to foreign investors who invests 2 million AED in the UAE
- Family Visa: Once an UAE resident has obtained their own visa, they are able to sponsor for their spouses, children, and dependent parents.
Eligibility Requirements for UAE Residency Visas:
- Valid Passport: A passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended visa duration.
- Sponsor: By registering your own company, the company will act as a legal sponsor for you to obtain your visa
- Medical Fitness: A medical examination in UAE needs to be passed in order to be eligible for the UAE residency visa.
- Police Clearance Certificate: A background check is conducted by a the UAE security department.
Family Sponsorship for UAE Residency Visas
UAE residents can sponsor their family members to live with them in the UAE. Family visas are available for spouses, children, and dependent parents.
Eligibility Requirements for Family Sponsorship:
- Sponsor Requirements: The sponsor must be a UAE resident with a valid residency visa, earning a minimum monthly salary of AED 5,000.
- Family Member Requirements: Family members must be in good health, hold valid passports, and have no criminal records.
Required Documents for Family Sponsorship:
- Sponsor’s passport, original emirates ID, and residency visa copy.
- Sponsor’s employment contract and salary certificate.
- Sponsor’s housing contract (ejari)
- Family members’ passports and birth certificates.
- Marriage certificates (if applicable)
Application Process for obtaining UAE Residency Visa:
- Submit the application to the GDRFA immigration department along with supporting documents.
- Complete the medical examination and biometrics fingerprint process
- Upon approval, UAE residency visas and Emirates ID will be issued electronically within 7 days.
